Canoeing on the Ipswich River
I remember every Columbus day weekend as a kid getting together with a few dozen relatives and having a fun day canoeing on the Ipswich river. We would rent the canoes from Foote brothers. They would drive us a few miles up river and then we would begin the slow trip back. Stopping multiple times along the way for meals, drinks, etc.
Has anyone else in Mass done this?

Canoeing is a lot of work and requires balancing act. It is very easy to tip over. The last time I canoed was in Boy Scouts when I was a kid.

That sounds like such a wonderful tradition! Canoeing on the Ipswich River with family must have created some incredible memories. The idea of stopping along the way for meals and drinks makes it even more special. I haven’t experienced it, but it sounds like a fantastic way to spend the weekend on Columbus Day.
