The Muddy Discovery
It started as a normal playtime in the yard. Cubis the cheeky macaque and Lucky the bouncy black-and-white puppy were running around, chasing each other in circles when they noticed something amazing…
A HUGE, SQUISHY PUDDLE OF MUD!
For a moment, they just stared at it.
Then they looked at each other.
And then… SPLASH!Cubis jumped right in, flinging mud everywhere! Lucky, not wanting to miss out, leaped in after him—rolling, pawing, and wagging his tail like a happy little mud monster.
In just a few seconds, these two best friends went from adorable to completely unrecognizable.
Cubis, usually sleek and clean, was now a brown, dripping mess!
Lucky, once fluffy and white, looked like he had been dipped in chocolate!Here Comes Dad… Uh-oh!
Just as Cubis was swinging from a tree branch, and Lucky was zooming through the mud like a tiny race car, they heard a loud “CUBIS! LUCKY! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!”
Uh-oh. Dad had arrived.
His eyes widened as he saw his once-clean pets completely covered from head to toe in thick, sticky mud.
Cubis froze mid-swing. Lucky stopped wagging his tail.
They exchanged a nervous glance.
Busted.Dad crossed his arms. “You two are in BIG trouble!”
The Big Punishment!
Cubis scratched his head. What was Dad going to do?
No bananas for a week?
No belly rubs for Lucky?
No playtime in the yard?Then it happened…
SPLASH!
Dad grabbed the garden hose and turned it on FULL BLAST!
Cubis screeched and jumped straight up into the air!
Lucky yelped and ran in circles, trying to escape the water!Dad sprayed them head to toe, washing off every last bit of mud. Mud flew everywhere—on the grass, on the trees, even on Dad!
When it was all over…
Cubis sat on the ground, looking like a soggy, grumpy monkey.
Lucky shivered, his fluffy fur now flat and wet.Dad sighed, wrapping them in big, warm towels. “Next time, STAY AWAY from the mud!”
But as Cubis grinned mischievously and Lucky wagged his tail, it was clear…
