MemberNovember 21, 2025 at 1:07 pm in reply to: What Happens if a Driver of a Car Rear Ended Me and I Rear Ended Someone ElseShort Answer: Since you only carry liability insurance and you were not at fault, the at‑fault driver’s insurance should cover your damages, including the total loss of your vehicle. However, because liability insurance does not cover your own car, you must rely on the other driver’s insurer to pay. If they are delaying or giving you the runaround, you may need to escalate with a formal claim, involve your state’s Department of Insurance, or consult an attorney to protect your rights consumershield.com Forbes FindLaw.
🔎 Breaking Down Your Situation
- Rear-end chain reaction: In multi-car accidents, liability is determined by fault. If you were rear-ended first and that impact caused you to hit the car in front, the driver who hit you is typically considered at fault novianlaw.com.
- Your coverage: Liability insurance only pays for damages you cause to others. It does not cover your own vehicle. That’s why the other driver’s insurance company took possession of your car and deemed it a total loss consumershield.com Forbes.
- Total loss process: A car is considered “totaled” when repair costs exceed a set percentage (often 70–80%) of its pre-accident value legalclarity.org. The insurer should pay you the actual cash value (ACV) of your car before the accident, minus any deductible if applicable.
🚗 What Should Happen Next
- Payout for your car: The at-fault driver’s insurer should issue you a settlement check for the ACV of your vehicle Forbes FindLaw.
- Disputes: If you believe the payout is too low, you can dispute it by providing evidence of your car’s value (recent sales, receipts for upgrades, etc.) consumershield.com.
- Delays: Insurance companies sometimes stall. You can file a complaint with your state’s Department of Insurance or seek legal help if they continue to delay consumershield.com FindLaw.
- Chain liability: You should not be held liable for the car you rear-ended if the collision was caused by the driver behind you. That liability falls on the person who hit you novianlaw.com.
📝 Practical Steps You Can Take
- Gather all documentation: accident report, photos, repair estimates, and communications with the insurer.
- Request a written explanation from the insurer about the payout timeline and valuation.
- If delays persist, file a complaint with the Illinois Department of Insurance.
- Consider consulting a personal injury/property damage attorney—many offer free consultations.
Bottom Line: With liability-only coverage, you depend entirely on the at-fault driver’s insurance to pay for your totaled car. Since they already picked up your vehicle, they owe you compensation. If they continue to stall, escalate formally—through your state regulator or legal counsel—to ensure you receive the fair value of your car.

MemberNovember 15, 2025 at 1:36 am in reply to: GCA Forums News for Saturday, November 1, 2025Let me take a quick dive into the politics and provide a concise response, using just the right amount of information, humor, and kindness. However, I have to bring this up. This may seem irrelevant to me, but let me factually approach this and focus on the truth first; then we can discuss everything else.
Factual Correction
As far as I know, as of 2024, one of the individuals you are referring to is the renowned Zohran Kwame Mamdani. I believe you misspelled it as ‘Mandami’ because that is not correct. However, this person is not the newly elected mayor of New York City. Yes, he is a person, and he is also a Democratic Socialist Assembly member at the New York State Assembly, representing part of Queens, primarily in District 36. He has been a member of the New York State Assembly since 2021, and yes, he is also a progressive. Currently, however, the Mayor of New York City is Eric Adams, and the next mayoral election is scheduled for 2025. Mamdani also ran for the NYC council in 2021, but he was unsuccessful in securing that position; however, he was subsequently able to switch to the State Assembly.
I would love some clarification here as well. If this is an alternate reality, a typographical error, or hypothetical, we can proceed. However, based on some semblance of reality, we know he is not the mayor.
What do “We” Think?
I’m more of an honest, SARCASTIC machine. Speaking of honesty, the team at Gustan Cho Associates and its band of merry men have the “freedom” and “vision” of the future in mind, without the baggage of strong partisan opinions. With all that being said, we can now form an opinion, or rather, I can form an opinion on Mamdani based on the most basic factors available to us.
- Strengths: He is a newcomer to New York City politics, in his early 30s (born in 1991), and he’s also an unapologetic progressive.
- He has been a champion for the “good cause” of protecting the right not to be evicted and fighting against gentrification, decriminalization, and sex work.
- With the multinational tensions, he has been one of the few that has supported the right for Palestinians to have a voice.
- If your ideology leans more to the left and progressive, he is one for you.
- He is also educated in and has a career in Urban Planning and Film; therefore, he has some imagination.
- Criticism of Levine: Detractors (mostly from centrist or conservative groups) assume that Levine’s socialistic policies may exacerbate an already dire financial situation for the city, lead to overregulation, increase budgetary issues, crime, or a poor post-COVID recovery.
- Controversy surrounding his views on Israel and Palestine (antisemitic on his part, he claims) is a singular shame on the otherwise diverse views of his critics.
- Most importantly, Levine is on the tail-end of a political career he has yet to spend in an executive role.
- As such, his capacity for handling the extreme demands of NYC’s administrative system is an open consideration.
The supposed anticipation of how a Levine candidacy for mayor in 2025, on the heels of worldwide representation in politics, will alter the political landscape of NYC is a disruption most welcome. However, most people focus on the order and decorum of a city, often overlooking understudied municipal governance… What was the trigger for the order this time? Was it something.

MemberNovember 3, 2025 at 5:12 pm in reply to: GCA Forums News for Friday September 19 2025Can anyone familiar with the recent topic that Erica Kirk, the widow of the late Charlie Kirk, the founder and President of Turning Point USA knew her husband Charlie Kirk’s assassination plot? This news was released by Reporter and Journalist Candace Owens. Candace Owens doubled down when her critics called her a conspiracy theorist and just lies. Candace Owens stands by her statement that Erica Kirk had no loss of tears when her husband died and she was already having (and has been having romantic relationship with the new President of Turning Point USA). I am by no means alleging that the allegations from Candace Owens are true and facted checked, but there are unanswered questions that need answers about Erica Krik. How can a widow forgive the killer of her husband and father of her children just days after the assassination. It would be greatly appreciated if our viewers and members share their thoughts and what they think is the truth or truths that has gotten twisted along the way or misunderstood. Regardless, this is a strong reputation destroyer that needs to get clarified. I am a firm believer that the truth always comes out. IT IS NOT IF THE TRUTH GET’S REVEALED BUT WHEN. Looking forward to reading everyone’s comments. Thank you..

I think it is day 34 of the government shutdown with no light at the end of the tunnel. Each side blames the other side for the shutdown so who’s fault is the shutdown. The democrats have a long history and reputation of lying, making things up, and blaming everything to Republicans. Chuck Schumer, Hakim Jeffreys, and a handful of Senate and House Democrats are habitual liars, and trumping fake news to make Republicans look bad.

I bought the car bare bones without the bells and whistles. However, I spent $25,000 in aftermarket OEM parts and accessories to convert it to a Max Platinum. I stripped the seats and installed new leather with heated and cooled seats. I changed the 18-inch rims and bought brand new 22-inch OEM tires. I also bought a 3-inch lift kit, window tint, Remote Auto Start, a Dash Cam, a high-end Kenwood stereo and digital system, which includes all the bells and whistles like USB, stereo, GPS, camera, and sensoring systems, rust proofing, and clear coat. The truck looks better than a Platinum—a reliable truck. I am thinking of refinancing this truck loan of $32,000.
Case Study: 2019 Ford Expedition MAX XLT Conversion vs. Trading Up to a 2025–26 Ford Expedition MAX Platinum
I’m looking for advice from automotive experts and enthusiasts here on GCA Forums.
I currently own a 2019 Ford Expedition MAX XLT. My payment is $718 per month for 72 months at a 17.99% interest rate. Instead of trading it in, I’ve been considering a full aftermarket modification to replicate a 2025 Ford Expedition MAX Platinum—essentially building a “Platinum clone.”
Here are the upgrades I’m considering so far:
-
3-inch lift kit
-
22-inch OEM rims (upgrading from the current 18-inch) with 35-inch tires
-
Conversion from cloth seats to heated and cooled leather seating
-
Premium stereo, navigation, and electronic system (Kenwood or OEM-equivalent)
-
Surround camera systems & advanced sensors
-
Rust-proofing and clear coat finish
-
Full LED lighting package
-
Window tinting
-
Side moldings, fender vents, and fender flares
What I’d Like Input On:
-
Additional Modification Suggestions
-
What other aftermarket upgrades would you recommend to make this XLT closely match the Platinum trim inside and out? (Examples: panoramic sunroof retrofits, adaptive cruise control, massage seats, or digital cluster swaps).
-
-
Estimated Costs
-
What would be a realistic cost breakdown for these upgrades, both parts and professional installation?
-
Based on market resale values, how much would the vehicle be worth after all modifications are completed?
-
-
Financial Trade-Off
-
Would I be better off completing this Platinum conversion on the 2019 XLT, or trading it in for a brand-new 2025 or 2026 Ford Expedition MAX Platinum with everything factory-installed?
-
What is the estimated MSRP range for a fully loaded 2025–26 Ford Expedition MAX Platinum?
-
If I financed a 2025–26 Platinum, what would an estimated monthly payment look like compared to my current $718/month at 17.99%?
-
This is both a personal decision and a case study I thought would be great for community input. I’d love to hear expert opinions on modification value, depreciation, trade-in potential, and whether the financial math makes sense one way or the other.
👉 What would you do: Build the Platinum clone or trade in for the real thing?

To answer your question about the Chicago area mobsters, it’s important to note that the Chicago Outfit, also known as the Chicago Mafia, has a long and storied history. The organization has been involved in various illegal activities, including racketeering, extortion, and labor union manipulation. Over the years, many mobsters in Chicago have been involved in legitimate businesses as a front for their criminal activities, particularly in the waste management and construction sectors.
One notable figure you mentioned is Peter DiFronzo, who was a prominent member of the Chicago Outfit. Peter DiFronzo was a “made” member and served as the caporegime of the Elmwood Park Crew within the Chicago Outfit. He was involved in various racketeering schemes and was known for his connections to the waste management industry. His brother, John “No Nose” DiFronzo, was also a significant figure in the Outfit and was considered one of the top bosses at one point.
The DiFronzo brothers were involved in D&P Construction, a waste-hauling business based in Melrose Park, Illinois. Although the business was officially run by Peter DiFronzo’s wife, Josephine, it was widely believed that Peter and his brother John were the true controllers of the enterprise. The FBI had extensive surveillance on Peter DiFronzo, tracking his movements even when he was walking his dog, which indicates the level of scrutiny and suspicion surrounding their activities.
The involvement of the DiFronzo brothers in legitimate businesses like waste management and construction allowed them to launder money and maintain a respectable facade while engaging in criminal activities. This strategy is common among organized crime groups, who often use legitimate businesses to hide their illegal earnings and operations.
As for the current state of the Chicago Outfit, it has faced significant declines due to the deaths of older mobsters and increased federal prosecutions. However, the organization has adapted and continues to operate, albeit with a reduced presence compared to its heyday. The Outfit’s activities have shifted, and it is now more focused on traditional rackets and less on the high-profile, violent crimes of the past.
In recent years, the Chicago Outfit has been linked to various construction and casino projects, which has raised concerns about organized crime’s influence in these industries. For instance, the construction of Bally’s Chicago casino was halted due to the involvement of a waste-hauling firm with historical ties to the DiFronzo brothers, highlighting the ongoing presence of the Outfit in these sectors.
In summary, the Chicago area mobsters, including the DiFronzo brothers, have historically been involved in waste management and construction businesses as a means to launder money and maintain a legitimate front for their criminal activities. While the Outfit’s influence has waned, it remains active, and its members continue to adapt to changing circumstances.
FBI tracked Chicago Outfit figure Peter DiFronzo even when he walked his dog, files show.
Onetime Chicago Outfit boss John ‘No Nose’ DiFronzo’s FBI files shed no light on why he escaped charges in ‘Family Secrets’ killings.

MemberJuly 25, 2025 at 6:34 pm in reply to: Dually-Licensed Realtor and Mortgage Loan OfficerCareer Opportunities for Dual-Licensed Real Estate Agents and Loan Officers
Suppose you hold licenses for real estate and mortgage loan origination (NMLS). In that case, you open doors to more career paths and income sources, especially during tougher market swings. Below is a closer look at what you can achieve and the step-by-step process to become a real estate agent or broker in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Why Go Dual-Licensed?
- Dual-licensed pros step in at every stage—finding a house, negotiating the deal, and securing the mortgage—making you the client’s one-stop person.
- This full-service model appeals to buyers and sellers who want a simple process and helps you stand out from agents who can only do one part.
Why It Pays Off
- Wider Service Range: You hold the keys to guide clients from the first house tour to the closing loan documents.
- More Income Avenues: You can earn commissions on the real estate side and on every loan you close.
- Larger Client Circle: Buyers and sellers who want hassle-free advice and fewer handoffs will be drawn to your complete skill set.
- Flexible Income: If real estate sales slow, you still have loan origination to keep your earnings steady.
Industry Challenges
The housing market is moving slowly right now. The entire real estate and mortgage landscape is getting tighter with inflation and rising rates. More professionals are stepping away, some are combining businesses, and others are racing to earn extra licenses. This is why a dual license in real estate and mortgages can open more doors and keep your career steady.

- Find Supportive Brokerages: Some firms, like AXEN Realty, actively seek dual-licensed pros and create roles for them.
- Network Everywhere: Market in the mortgage and real estate databases to boost referrals and create a steady flow of repeat clients.
Summary:
Becoming a dual-licensed real estate agent/broker and mortgage loan officer can set you up for success in any market. By offering both services, you can streamline transactions for clients, keep more of each deal, and build multiple streams of income. To get started, you’ll need to follow state requirements: Illinois mandates 75 hours of classwork for a real estate license, while Wisconsin requires 72 hours. Both states also require extra hours in the field for the broker credential. At a time when the market is shifting, this extra credential can help you stand out and weather any storm.
Illinois Agent License
75 hours of classwork, plus a qualifying exam. Start with a state-approved school offering the 75-hour course, register for the exam through Pearson Vue, and pass with a 75% or better. Complete a background check and 45-hour post-license class within the first year. Once you get your license, you may pursue the broker license by showing 2,000 hours of experience or completing a 1,000-hour apprenticeship with a sponsoring broker.
Wisconsin Agent License
72 hours of classwork, plus a qualifying exam. Take the 72-hour course, pass the exam with 75% or better, and submit a background check. Complete a 36-hour post-license course within the first year, and you’re ready to work. To upgrade to broker, you need at least 1 year of experience or 400 hours with a sponsoring broker, plus an extra 72 hours of broker training.
Market Trends
Mortgage rates and inventory may adjust, pushing clients to look for trusted, one-stop shops for real estate and financing. When you’re dual-licensed, you can answer every question on the spot and close deals faster, attracting a loyal customer base.
The extra work to get both licenses pays off by giving clients a seamless experience and you a stronger business. Good prep and networking with a mentor for Illinois and Wisconsin can speed up the dual-licensing journey.
