Information about Midnight Oil and their song “Beds Are Burning” will be supplied upon request. As always, note that my information is accurate as of 2024, so some information about the current status may not be fully present.
Midnight Oil:
- Midnight Oil is an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1972.
- They are known for using politically motivated lyrics.
- The band is known for singing and dancing with the utmost energy and offering a lasting social and environmental contribution.
- The band found critical and commercial success in equal measure, especially during the 1980s and early 90s.
“Beds Are Burning” was released twenty years ago, in 1987. It is one of the best-known songs of the band Midnight Oil. It was featured in their album Diesel and Dust. This song discusses the issue of aboriginal land rights in Australia, especially the restoration of land to the Pintupi tribal group, one of the last groups to be acquainted with white Australians.
The views expressed in the song’s lyrics communicate Indigenous land rights and reconciliation. It became an international hit and brought global awareness to Australia’s imbalance of indigenous rights.
Evolution of the Group:
Also, if only for all the purposes of argument, let us assume that the journey of the group Midnight Oil was formed in the surf rock genre under the name of “farm” as early as 1972. Initially, there were Members Rob Hirst, Jim Moginie, and Andrew James. In the singer’s place, Garrett came and took over as the first vocalist in 1975 and, therefore, was part of the ensemble till its name became Midnight Oil. Guitarist from 1977 joined the band Martin Rotsey.
Members of the Band and How are They today:
Peter Garrett (lead vocals, harmonica):
- Peter Garrett Overview.
- Born on April 16, 1953.
- Having worked with Midnight Oil and even without them, Garrett became a social-political activist and environmentalist.
- However, from 2004 to 2013, Garrett was a member of the Australian Parliament, first elected and later appointed as a cabinet minister.
- However, Stefan was seen performing his roles with Midnight Oil again on their reunion tours and recordings.
Rob Hirst (drums, vocals):

- Born on September 23, 1955.
- Rob Hirst’s gradual decline has not impaired his active involvement in other genre forms.
- Rob Hirst’s activities were related to the reunions of Midnight Oil.
Jim Moginie (guitars, keyboards):
Jim Moginie Overview
- Born: May 18, 1956.
- Moreover, in a solo career and some collaborative works, Moginie worked as well as one of the band’s strong voices.
Membership & Participation in Activities of Other Bands.
Martin Rotsey (guitars):
Martin Rotsey Biography :
- Born: March 21, 1956.
- Did not make much noise in the center but still made an event and rocked the performance or the recording.
Membership & Participation in Activities of Other Bands.
(bass guitar and vocals) :
- Bones Hillman Biography Born October 18, 1958, died November 7, 2020.
- In 1987, the Blues in Forces replaced Peter Gifford and joined the band.
- He participated in Midnight Oil’s reunion till his date of death.
‘Midnight Oil’ thrived on and off until 2002 as a group but made a comeback in 2017 with world shows. In the course of them, they also put out new music and went on tour. In 2021, the band informed their fans that the 2022 tour would be the last of its kind, thus raising the curtains on their performing career.
Since musicians’ careers and lives change over time, I suggest that the reader review the latest available materials to determine the whereabouts of the band members.

I feel you. I know what it’s like to receive conflicting credit advice, so let me give you the ropes on these credit-building options to help boost your credit score for a mortgage application:
Credit Builder Loans
These small loans are designed for building credit. The loan amount is usually held in a savings account while payments are made and reported to the bureaus.
What credit rebuilder loans do to rebuild your credit:
- Establish payment history.
- Add a new account type to the mix.
- Build credit without needing traditional credit qualification.
Secured Credit Cards
These cards require a cash deposit that becomes your credit line.
What secured credit cards do to help you rebuild your credit:
- Build payment history.
- Improve utilization ratio (UR).
- They are easier to qualify for than unsecured cards.
Authorized User Credit Cards
Someone else adds you to their card account.
What authorized user credit cards do:
- Can benefit from the primary user’s good history.
- Build credit without applying for your card.
- There is no financial responsibility for the account.
Key differences:
- Rebuilder loans are installment accounts, while secured and authorized user cards fall under revolving accounts.
- Rebuilder loans and secured cards require your payments, not authorized user cards.
- Rebuilder loans have fixed end dates, but this isn’t applicable with CCs.
Mortgage rebuild plan:
- Check reports for errors & dispute inaccuracies.
- Start with a secured credit card or rebuilder loan.
- Pay all bills on time.
- Keep utilization under 10%.
- Become an authorized user on the responsible person’s CC.
- Pay down existing debts, starting with high interest rate balances first.
- Don’t close old accounts – this contributes to the length of credit history.
- Avoid applying for new credits frequently, as hard inquiries can decrease scores.
Think about taking out a small personal loan after having six to twelve months’ worth of positive payment histories behind you — it might be helpful if there isn’t much else showing up on file.
Maintain a mix of different types (revolving vs. installments):
- Be patient – seeing any significant score change usually takes 12 to 24 months.
- Monitor scores often enough to keep track of how well you’re doing.
Once it’s up there again, consider moving onto unsecured credit cards. Save money for a down payment while building credits to improve mortgage loan terms.
Credit must be fixed over time. The only way to build credit is through consistent responsible behavior over time (such as paying bills promptly and keeping balances low). It would help if you also tried adding more accounts once these become available — this will help show that you can handle different kinds of loans without defaulting on any of them.
FICO, or the three major bureaus, can provide the most accurate information about scoring your credit report. Suppose you’re looking for some advice tailored specifically towards yourself. In that case, I suggest contacting an NFCC-accredited non-profit counseling agency, which will give personalized tips about what might work best given your situation.
