The Post was there with ICE officers as they staked out the alleged killer’s hideout in a crime-ridden neighborhood with a large migrant community. Watch the dramatic scene unfold as officers take the suspect into custody. Federal agents had received a report that the “documented” member of the Venezuelan prison gang was in the area after he was spotted walking his dog. For hours, officers from ICE and a host of other federal agencies waited for the target to show himself again.

MemberFebruary 12, 2025 at 8:15 pm in reply to: GCA FORUMS HEADLINE NEWS FOR Wednesday February 12th 2025Conviction of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. The previous Illinois House Speaker, Michael Madigan, was sentenced on February 12, 2023, for ten counts of bribery, conspiracy, and wire fraud but was found not guilty of seven other charges, including attempted extortion. The jury could not unanimously decide on several other charges against him, including a central racketeering conspiracy charge. His co-defendant, Michael McClain, was similarly found deadlocked for all counts brought against him.
Key Points from the Conviction
Charges Convicted On:
- Madigan was determined guilty of bribery conspiracy with Commonwealth Edison (ComEd).
- Two other counts of bribery are also associated with ComEd.
- Three counts of wire fraud were connected with an effort to obtain a seat on a state board for former Alderman Danny Solis.
- Four counts of using interstate commerce to conduct bribery.
Acquittals:
- He was found not guilty of one bribery charge in the context of the Danny Solis state board plot.
- Two charges of bribery within the ComEd scheme.
- Four charges related to a scheme by a luxury apartment building developer to solicit business from his private law firm.
Deadlocked Counts
The charge of racketeering conspiracy and several other important counts resulted in a mistrial because the jury failed to reach an agreement on what was regarded as the most crucial charge.
Reactions
Acting U.S. Attorney Morris Pasqual characterized the Madigan case conviction as “historic,” drawing attention to its place in the criminal cases prosecuted in that court. That conviction has been said to mark a milestone in Illinois politics because of Madigan’s influence throughout history.
Political Impact
Madigan’s conviction signals the death of a century of influence since he was one of the most powerful players in Illinois politics. He was House Speaker from 1983 until 2021, aside from a brief period of Republican control of the chamber.
Next Steps:
- Prosecutors have not decided whether to bring Madigan or McClain to trial on the deadlocked charges.
- Though facing imprisonment, Madigan’s age may soften the blow of whatever sentence he receives.
This is one of Illinois’s more significant public corruption cases, which is not new to such battles. This trial’s verdict captures the continuing struggle to deal with state corruption in the government’s upper echelon.

Lindy Li, is a former campaign advisor and prominent commentator on U.S. politics who’s made significant contributions to the political landscape. After moving from China to America at the age of five, she eventually attended Princeton University where she became the first woman to serve as class president for all four years. Her early career included roles as a financial analyst at Merck and Morgan Stanley before pivoting to politics, where she served as the Women’s Co-Chair and Mid-Atlantic Regional Chair at the Democratic National Committee. She was also involved in the Asian American outreach team for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.
Li has recently transitioned from her Democratic roots to align with conservative politics, citing a toxic culture within her former party as one of many reasons for her departure. She has been vocal in criticising both President Biden and Vice President Harris, claiming that their leadership has stifled dissent within the party. She currently co-chairs the Justice Unites Us Super PAC, focusing on increasing Asian-American voter turnout, and has been recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s most powerful women. In January 2025, she was appointed to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural fundraising committee, marking a significant shift in her political affiliations.

MemberFebruary 12, 2025 at 7:52 pm in reply to: GCA FORUMS HEADLINE NEWS FOR Wednesday February 12th 2025Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has been roasted following the release of her unedited interview with ‘60 Minutes’.
On Wednesday, the full interview transcript and video were released by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC).
The unedited transcript and video were handed over to the FCC by CBS News and showed the VP’s “word salad” answers.
Harris’ interview on ’60 Minutes’ with correspondent Bill Whitaker aired a month before the presidential election.
Following the airing, claims were made that the interview was edited to make Harris appear more coherent.
Trump-appointed Chair of the FCC, Brendan Carr, won the battle of the unedited interview on Monday following a tug-of-war with CBS News.
The video eventually made its way to social media, where X users roasted the former vice president.
“Kamala Harris looked like she was on the verge of throwing up seconds before her 60 Minutes interview. She was and never will in any way shape or form prepared to run this country,” wrote one user.https://youtu.be/AEd8vCBPENI?si=LC8J9B7eNivRNm4L
