The current price cut rate according to Zillow’s data is 26.5% according to their August 2025 market data, which is the 3rd highest level on record and the highest level for August on record. Moreover, Redfin just reported a 16.7% price cut rate for August, which was a record in their data set (and more than 2x higher than the period before the pandemic).
Home sellers are dropping their asking price at the highest rate back to 2012 because the buyer demand in the market is very low, and because inventory has risen. Especially in housing markets like Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Colorado.
