German Shepherd Dog Giving Birth to Litter of Pups
I spoke with James Abrams, who normally goes by JD. JD is a BDM at NEXA Mortgage, and I have known him for several years. I have heard different, if not shocking, news from JD. JD adopted a German Shepherd dog over a year ago. The dog’s name is Chloe. The German Shepherd dog Chloe is two years old. I asked JD how his German shepherd dog was doing. JD went on to tell me that his dog is doing great and how much he loves Chloe. Then he went on to tell me about an incident he had with Chloe a few months back. James said his German shepherd dog, Chloe, had ten puppies. The father of the ten puppies is not known since Chloe got out of her territory and wandered the neighborhood. The weirdest part of the story was that every time James went to check on the puppies, the number of pups was getting reduced. For example, the ten puppies he witnessed and counted, it went down to eight pups. Then seven puppies. Then five. So JD said something was up. Long story short, Chloe, the German shepherd dog that gave birth to ten puppies, was eating her own puppies with two puppies left over. Besides the ten puppies, the German shepherd Chloe at two birds, Cockatiels, that James kept as pets. I will ask James if he can share the entire story on this forum. Anyone hear of such a bizarre incident where a dog who gave birth to a large litter of puppies at the entire litter? I heard of animals eating the placentas of their newborns but not devouring the entire pup. Something is wrong with her. Any response to this thread will be greatly appreciated.
JD, I appreciate you sharing your story. I am sure you going through this bizarre incident with Chloe is not the first case among those dog lovers and owners who are either intentionally or unintentionally breeding their dogs.

There’s got to be a reason why your German Shepherd dog ate all her pups. If you are going to breed your German Shepherd Chloe, you have to know why your dog ate all her little of pups and that it’s a one off incident and it will not happen ever again. Those poor pups. The picture you sent me yesterday of two newborn puppies, are they still alive? Attached are pics of Skylar my female German Shepherd yesterday night when we had a snow storm and Chade, my big boy who is absolutely 💯 obsessed with his red ball.

There are many things animals, whether domestic or wild animals do that are instinctive by nature where they were not taught. God programmed them that way. I heard certain animals instinctively kill their newborn if the mother believes there’s something wrong with them or believes the newborn will not survive on their own in the wild. Now this theory does make sense, however, in your case scenario your German Shepherd dog killed almost ten newborn pups. I doubt there was something wrong something with all ten puppies

Yes, the previous owner mentioned the same thing—that if the mother senses the puppies are too weak to survive, she may eat them.

If it was one or two puppies, it’s understandable. However, your female German Shepherd Dog ate most of the ten puppies. I agree with Dejon. If newborn puppies are sick and defective or sick, they normally die right away. It’s a shame the mother Dog ate her newborn puppies.

Nothing wrong with puppies. Mom is not good mom. In this case you need to separate puppies away. Every 2-3 hours put them back to have milk, but you need to be there and make sure all puppies had enough breastmilk. And take them away. They need to stay in warm place, one heat lamp will do the job.. you need to continue doing that for 2 weeks and then you can slowly transfer to formula milk.

Excellent, informative advice, Dejon. What you are saying makes all the sense in the world. I think it is best that JD does not breed Chloe and get another potential mom as the German Shepherd mother for his litter of puppies.

J.D., Dejon ( Dan) is the breeder of my two German Shepherd dogs and very knowledgeable about breeding dogs. He breeds German Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers, Exotic long haired French Bulldogs, and little baby monkeys 🐒. From the sounds of it, looks like you got yourself a Killer Mother, or better yet, a Cannabil. You should rename Chloe Lucifer or Satan. Poor puppies 🐶 got eaten alive 😢 😕 😞. Anyways, ask Dan Ivenovic for needed advice. I don’t know if your Killer Cannabil German Shepherd Lucifer will not eat her second batch of puppies. Get a new non-killer German Shepherd mother who will not eat her brand new babies. Shit, watch your back. Lucifer may eat you too. Started with the puppies, then your birds, and next will be you.
