For most individuals, consuming three eggs a day is not very dangerous, as eggs contain high-quality nutrients such as proteins, vitamins, and minerals such as choline and selenium. However, issues such as individual cholesterol levels, heart disease risk, and general diet should be factored in.
Key Statements:
Nutritional Value: Nutrition includes protein, vitamins (A, D, E, and B12), and nutrients such as choline (needed, particularly in pregnancy, since it supports brain health) and selenium (a mineral and an antioxidant)—of which Eggs are plentiful.
Cholesterol: Eggs are relatively high in Cholesterol, averaging about 186 mg of Cholesterol per egg; however studies found that in most people, only a few individuals are at risk of heart disease due to cholesterol levels obtained from dietary sources. But as with most nutrients, there are exceptions. Some individuals have been known to be more highly sensitive to dietary Cholesterol and tend to associate that effect with blood cholesterol levels.
Heart Health: For heart disease patients or those with high Cholesterol, perhaps healthy recommendations would include those regarding the number of eggs consumed. However, moderate egg consumption, up to 1-3 eggs daily, has not been associated with heightened risks of heart disease in normal healthy persons, according to many studies.
Balanced Diet: If the rest of your diet is low in saturated fats and high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, then it is possible to incorporate three eggs a day into your diet, and it will be deemed healthy.
The bottom line is that having three eggs daily is satisfactory for most individuals with a moderate overall diet; however, persons with some health-related issues must seek a doctor’s advice.
