LANDSCAPING
Posted by Gustan Cho on November 20, 2023 at 3:48 amI live on a 7 acre property and did the final end of the year mowing today which I am not done. Started last Friday but my tractor broke down. Got my tractor back Friday and mowed for three hours. I spent 5 hours today and still have more than 10 hours at best. It normally takes me 8 hours to mow my yard by myself without doing trimming which I normally spread it out over 3 days over one week. If I hire a landscaper, it costs me $600. Here are some photos and videos.

Here’s a video clip me in my John Deere diesel tractor.

Spent over ten hours mowing with my diesel tractor. Some areas had 3 feet of leaves. I will work 5 hours tomorrow and wrap it up on Tuesday.

Looks like you’re in for a wild mowing adventure on your 7-acre property! It’s a shame your tractor had plans for a Friday breakdown, but kudos to you for bouncing back and putting in those hours. Who knew mowing could be a full-time job? 😅 With more than 10 hours to go, you’re in for the long haul. But hey, think of the money you’re saving by not hiring a landscaper for $600! Can’t wait to see more photos and videos of your epic mowing marathon. Best of luck! 🚜

Anngelli, normally I have landscapers mow lawn every two weeks. However, I had to fire them due to budget cuts and and inflation i need to mow the lawn myself.

Don’t know yet on who trims the weeds. Not me. That needs to be done by a landscaper.

Here are some tips to decide on whether to keep mowing yourself or to hire a landscaper based on your circumstances:
Investment of Time
Time So Far: Per your estimation, you mowed for 3 hours last Friday and 5 hours today, and more than 10 hours must be completed. Adding those up already puts the work at 18 hours.
Total Time: This surpasses the average time of 8 hours, combining the 8 hours already worked with the 10 hours still needed.
Fees a Landscaper Would Charge
Hire as an Expense: You would be charged 600 dollars to hire the landscaper. This contrasts the time and effort you put into mowing yourself.
How Valuable Your Time Is
Opportunity Cost: Now value the time you spend. Are there any other challenges or activities that you could participate in? If yes, spending money on someone else might be a good option.
Aperture Enjoyment: While deciding, it may be the case that mowing is a fun activity for you, and you could forever wish to do it on your own, thus ultimately being a time waster.
Tiredness From Physical Activity
Strain on Body: Spending long hours on the mower can tire you out, especially if you are not accustomed to such an activity. In that case, you should consider hiring a landscaper to ease your fatigue.
Quality of Work
Work—Posing as an amp-groomer is the work that holds supremacy over all the above. Also, if trimming and landscaping are tasks you are extremely engrossed in and do not have the time to drive to overview them. A professional might be of great assistance to you.
Recommendation
Hire the Landscaper: Since you have set out to complete everything within 10 hours and above, that’s a chunk of time already over-exceeded. It would be wise for you to hire a landscaper. This would free you from this strenuous, arduous task while allowing you to use your time scope as you prefer.
Weigh Your Preferences: If you are adamant and still want to do it yourself, try dividing set amounts of work and spreading it across a few days to see where your physical limit lies.
Ensure your choice best depicts your priorities as closely as possible regarding the time duration, cost, and task enjoyment. Do you value and want to save time? If that’s the case, hiring a professional is a go-go.
