Lost RV TITLE
Posted by Gustan on August 15, 2023 at 6:31 pmHow do you go about getting a lost replacement title for an RV that is under a family members name? Can I get it from DMV or does my family member need to go in person. Trying to transfer RV from my family member to me and the lender needs the title since I am taking out on it.

Did they sell you the RV? Do you have a bill of sale? Normally the individual would go unless it is an inherited RV.

I had my daughter got to DMV and get a duplicate title and she’s overnighting to me. It was under her name so now once I get it, I need to get it changed to my name. I guess only one person is needed on a two name title because my mom is in Colorado. It was under both my daughter and mother’s name.

Great! RV’ing is one of our families favorite activities. There’s something about being in nature that the city just can’t match!

If both names are on the title, they still both need to sign it…

Just had to do this in Idaho. By passed both names by having the other person on the title sign a limited POA, so much easier if they aren’t close enough to go in

How do I submit a request for a duplicate title to an RV that got lost?
If you possess an RV registered in a family member’s name and require a duplicate title, you must follow the following steps.
Get in Touch with your DMV
Visit the website: A designated page on the Department of Motor Vehicles website in your state covers the reason behind duplicate title loss and how to apply for a new one.
Call for information: You can also contact the DMV by phone to ask about the requirements for the title application process.
Take note of the Information Required.
Expenses and time will be wasted if efforts are put into applying for the duplicate title without the required information:
RV Specs: These include the make of the vehicle, model number, year of manufacture, and even its VIN.
Information of the Owner: This would include the full particulars of the individual who owns the RV, such as their full name and address.
Your Profile: Information that includes your full name and your address.
Filing the Application for Duplicate Title
Application paperwork: Look for the relevant duplicate title forms issued for the RV. Other places include the DMV’s sites and headquarters.
Required Signature
Family member’s signature: In most states, a close relative or family member who is the initial registered person on the title will have to apply for the duplicate title and provide their signature when making the application. This means that they must go to the DMV in person.
Power of Attorney: If your family member cannot make it, provide them with the document that gives you power of attorney to act for them.
Complete Your Application
In-person submission: Some states require the individual to visit the DMV to file the application personally. If you need their signature, your family member must accompany you.
Mail option: If yours is a state that permits mailing of applications, then do so with any accompanying fees.
Fee Payments
Replacement title application: Ans also expects to pay a buzzer for the replacement title application, as that amount differs from state to state.
Wait for Processing
Processing Time: After submission, processing times sometimes are different. Ask the DMV for estimated times.
Transfer Ownership
Upon receiving the replacement title, you will change the family member’s ownership of the title for yourself. Also, remember any supplementary processes your state requires to finalize the transfer.
Aside from the user in the process, with the help of the DMV, acquiring a replacement title for an RV that has been lost can be simple. Sticking to these instructions can also simplify the ownership transfer, and the title from the lender can also be obtained.
