What Happens If The Recipient Loses a Money Order
I sent a money order from the United States Post Office and my friend lost it. The recipient of the money order threw it out along with other junk mail accidently. Does anyone know the procedure of getting the U.S. POST OFFICE to re-issue the money order?

You cannot stop payment on postal money orders, but a lost or stolen money order can be replaced. Money order loss or theft may take up to 30 days to confirm. Investigating a money order’s lost or stolen status may take up to 60 days.

Wow. That happened to me. Wasn’t much only $200 but you will never get it back from the post office. On the other hand, you will get cashiers check back from a bank.
