Koko, the Talking Gorilla, is probably the most intelligent, likeable, loveable Gorilla ever in existence. Koko, born in 1971, was nursed by his mother Gorilla until he was six months old when he developed an illness and had to be cared by human caregivers. A year later, a graduate psychology student took Koko on as her Talking Gorilla project, Project Koko. Koko started to communicate via sign language. As she aged, Koko developed over 1,000 words and can communicate with humans via sign language. Koko even knew how to ask he wanted a pet kitten. Amazing story. Amazing Gorilla.
