I heard you can get alot of house for the money in Alabama. Many people give up buying a house in Florida and decide to purchase a home in Alabama. Same with hombuyers in Louisiana and Mississippi. Most homes in Louisiana and Mississippi require flood insurance. Alabama does not. The fact most homes in Alabama don’t require flood insurance makes buying a house in Alabama more attractive.

Lennar Builders, DR HORTON and dozens of other home builders are offering mortgage rates under 6% and builder incentives to attract homebuyers. The problem they are encountering is the smart homebuyers are not selling their homes where they have rates under 3% they got back in 2018 and 2019. Most qualified homebuyers are renovating their existing homes and getting a second mortgage loan versus buying a new house.
